Ok, this should probably be in the 1050 area, but that's pretty slow these days.

Sub only seems to be driven when the receiver is in Dolby Pro-Logic mode! When in stereo, doesn't make a peep.

I can see the little LFE icon in the display, and I turn the sub-trim all the way up, but butkus.

What gives?

(Also: is there some way to turn off the mains so I can just hear surrounds?)

Thanks, outlaws!!

are your mains set to small?i use my 1050 in stereo mode most of the time, mains small, sub on.

i don't think you can shut off the mains without having them driven by an outboard amp.

As painttoad points out, the mains need to be small for the sub to be active when in stereo mode (Pro Logic will send information to the center which could then be crossed over and sent to the sub). You also need to make sure the material that you are listening to has content below your crossover point - a lot of music doesn't. (My DTD can give you a CD or DVD with a low frequency tone that can help test this.)

The only way to "turn off" the mains while the surrounds are active is to disconnect the speakers.

Turning the speaker config to 'small' did the trick.

Incidentally, for those that contributed to my question about driving a second set of mains, I purchased a Cambridge Audio P500 Power amp.

The sound coming out of that thing (from the pre-amp out of the 1050) blows the doors off my dear old Outlaw, but actually gave it a new lease of life.

Why upgrade the whole shebang when the $200 power amp gives such nice sound?

Thanks everybody.
