while watching dvds the 990 will shut off by itself once in a while. it has happened 3 times. when I put the power back on it works perfectly again(just like it would before it shut off) I have the newest firmware. many people have this problem?

That's a curious one, alright - I'd initially wondered if it was a remote IR code compatibility conflict, but that's not the case. I'd recommend getting Outlaw support on the case.
that is odd. is it somehow activating a timer or something like that?

the sleep timer seems to be a good idea. I now have the system lock enabled(with the sleep timer off of course) and in theory should stop the sleep mode from being accidentaly activated. I don't have any neighbours close enough to have any problems like that. the 990 is not plugged into a conditioner. it doesnt happen often so I'll have to keep you guys updated as to if it happens or not. thanks
