Hello,Ive just received the 990 & was wondering if the up-grade is worth it? Will it sound any better?Also Im computer handicapped,no very good with computers! thanks

Do you mean the firmware update? There were some improvements made to the way Pro Logic II/IIx works that could be worth having, plus a couple other nice adjustments (editable names for audio inputs as well as video) - my firmware notes cover the changes. I'd recommend it. If you're nervous about the update and want to keep it as simple as possible, using a serial cable will streamline the process. Outlaw has some very detailed instructions that will walk you through the update.

Yep, that's the one I mean, and you can get a standard serial cable at either place (Radio Shack may be easier than Wal-Mart these days, as the demand for serial cables has dropped off and Wal-mart may not stock them - or at least not know they stock them - anymore).

FWIW, I just installed the firmware update using a USB cable. I stole the cable from our scanner, actually. :-) The update went smoothly.

I highly recommend following Outlaw's advice and printing out the instructions in advance. I also advise reading them carefully more than once before getting started, as there are quite a few steps.
