Hi New Outlaw owner here with a couple of questions:

1) Video switching, if I change sources, in order to go back to the video source I have to turn the power off and then select the video source again to turn on or the picture wont come back...Is this normal?

2)Popping.....seems like I get some popping when I switch listening modes..is this normal?

Any help would be appreciated!!

Thanks
Vince

Just hooked it up saturday and I am very impressed with the performance!

1) That doesn't sound normal. Is the source in question a DVI or HDMI source, or does it happen with any source? When this happens, do you still get audio after the input change? Can you power cycle the TV or source ahd also re-gain the picture?

2) There has been some talk about this among 990 users who also use the 7500 or 7700 amp (including myself, as I have a 7500). When the incoming signal format changes, the combination of 990 and 7500/7700 seems to produce a low "click" noise. This is normal, although I haven't heard a technical explanation for why it occurs when it was not present with my old Model 750 amp or my M200's.

Gonk, thanks for saying something about the click noise. I have noticed a very subtle click sound but only from my RCA HDTV tuner when the source changes from 5.1 to stereo or mono. This does not happen when changing channels but when a station changes formats during commercials, etc. The interesting thing is that it only comes from my surround speakers (which are powered by an Outlaw 7125). My main speakers are powered by a CARVER m1.5t. So you could be on to something with that preamp/amp combination theory.

It is barely perceptible in my case but at least now I feel better that I am not imagining it.

I don't have the click noise (990/7500) but I haven't taken the time to upgrade s/w yet. Is this only problematic after the upgrade?

No, it shouldn't be - at least not from what I've been able to tell from other posters.

Hi Gonk,

1) yes I till get audio but lose the picture. The only way to get the picture back is to turn off the 990 and turn it back on to the video source. Yes this is throught the DVI out.

2) yes it happens when the TV program is switching formats but also when ever I switch sources it also happens. It comes from all my speakers....

I cant believe there is not an explanation....I am using the balanced connections on my amp.

I do love the sound but am very annoyed with the popping sound....
