I have two amps with one being fed via the balanced outputs. I was wondering if i could use the rca pre-amp outs to another amp in order to power four more speakers throughtout the house versus the zone 2 outputs. does the 990 send a signal through only balanced or rca or can it not tell and in essence send a signal to both sets of outputs. any thoughts would be appreciated. oh, this is for a new years eve party and i'd like sound througout the house.

I believe that it sends through both, but I haven't tried it. There would be a level difference between the two (extra few dB of gain at the balanced outputs) and of course you wouldn't have any way to control volume separately for the other speakers in the house - in that regard, the second zone offers an advantage.

Gonk is correct, the 990 does send signals out both the RCA and balanced outputs.
