I must have a short between my headsets. I cannot get the menu button to work. Yes, I am pressing the correct button: immediately to the right of the display on the front panel and at the bottom right of the numeric keys on the remote. Pressing either one yields no results. All other buttons seem to work. I look forward to any help. Thank you.

Have you tried pressing the "TNR" button first then "Menu"? TNR is located towards the upper right portion of the remote and tells the remote you want to control the 990.

Just to cover all the bases, in addition to what AVFan said and the front panel button that you mentioned... You need to have one of the analog video monitor outputs connected (component, composite, or s-video) and the TV turned on and set to that video connection - the menu only displays via those video outputs (not on the front panel or the DVI monitor output).

Dear AVfan and gonk,

Thank you for your responses on Christmas. Yes, I did make sure the remote was set to TNR. As I said, the other buttons work. I guess I was expecting to see a front panel display. I thought I had observed that in the past. Since my projector is in another room I guess I will hook up my digital video cam. I know I have seen the display on that.

Thanks again,

Yeah, once you have a screen to display it on, you'll be set.
