I'm using the 7.1 direct input with all speakers set to large for hd-dvd, but I am able to set the lip sync on the menu and it seems to be working fine. Does this mean that somehow I forced the 7.1 inputs to go to the digital processor, or is the lip sync able to operate on the analog side without DAC?

I'm not sure if it's all done in the analog domain or not, but bass management, speaker distance compensation, and center channel lip sync are all applied to the 7.1 direct input. No other sound processing is available. I think it might be magic.
