More lip sync

Hey there, like others, I'm having lip sync problems with my 990. I hope this hasn't been answered somewhere, but I haven't found anything definitive in previous posts. My video output significantly lags audio (half second?) when the 990 is switched to cable input. I've tried changing the lip sync delay from 0 to 250MS, but there seems to be no change no matter the setting. My cable/HDTV are routed to/from the 990 via HDMI/DVI. Lip sync is fine when tuned to DVD (DVI/optical audio). I've been trying to tune lip sync via input config menu, since I have not updated firmware to allow lip sync control via 990 front panel. Is there a fix for this? Would the firmware upgrade solve the problem? I've read some folks who have suggested unplugging the 990 or reseting the box. I'm reluctant to do the latter since I do not want to reconfigure everything again. Any help appreciated (Gonk?) Thanks!

Are you changing the lip sync with the remote shortcut, or are you using the setup menu? If you're using the remote short cut (a feature they added with the firmware update due to popular demand) you have to press the center "set" key after setting the delay. The "set" key is in the middle of those 4-way selectors. Otherwise, it won't "lock-in" the lip sync you thought you selected.

Interesting, I'm not sure. I'm using the remote, but using it to set the lip sync delay through the on-screen input config menu. When I go back to the HDTV view, then return to the input config, the value I last selected is retained, so I think I'm doing this properly. Does this make sense?

digging up an old topic.
but last night while watching a DVD movie.. the audio overran the video. meaning it was out of lip sync.
No biggie really as I have had this problem in the past and know that when it happens I now know how to resolve the issue.
I have to recalibrate it using the supplied mic.
I was just surprised that it happen during a movie. about 30 minutes into the movie, so it wasn't a layer change or anything.. just that the next chapter/scene it went out of sync.
I recalibrated and everything was fine again.. I wonder though, why it went out of sync at all.
Anyone else have the same problem?

Hey Luyen,
I had a bazaar lip sync problem somewhat like you are describing. I tried all sorts of way to get it straightened out but couldn't get it right. I finally called Outlaw support and they had an answer in about 10 seconds flat! Apparently my auto-calibration had not gone well. They had me look at the audio configuration, in particular the "delay" section. If the there is some strange value(s) there that you have found the problem. Mine was the sub had a negative number. All I had to do was manually set the correct distance and all was fine after that.
I hope this will solve your problem as well.
