Both formats are too young to offer a really good idea of what they are capable of, both on the hardware and the software sides. As an example, it hasn't been possible to accurately compare the two side-by-side because the only Blu-ray player available until just recently was the Samsung, which had a significant problem with its HDMI video output. HD-DVD has certainly had a better year than Blu-ray, but I really don't think anybody can count either format out yet.

I haven't looked closely at any of the LCoS displays out there, but everything I've been hearing gives Sony and their SXRD displays top marks. A co-worker just picked up a 60" SXRD just a few days ago, but I haven't gotten to see it yet.
