I'm seriously considering a 990. I want to use the trigger outputs to turn my amps (300Bs) on. My question relates to the "Sequential Delay" name. The name implies that they are powered sequentially delayed? Does it mean that when you turn the pre on there's a delay of x time before trigger output 1 is powered and another delay after sequential trigger 2 (if so configured) is powered? How long is the delay?

Interesting question, actually. My trigger 1 goes to a Panamax, which has a a 10 second delay that conceals any delay inherent in the trigger itself. The manual doesn't mention anything about a delay, so all I see is the blurb on the product page that mentions "Sequential Delay" - doesn't tell me much. Trigger 2 is associated with specific inputs, though, unlike trigger 1 - trigger 1 is live any time the unit is on, but trigger 2 is only live when an input is selected that has "trigger 2" set to "on" in its input menu. You might call or e-mail Outlaw to see if they can shed any light on the sequential delay blurb.

My 990's Trigger 1 is connected to a small Panamax that has no built-in delay, and the amp (Adcom 535) powers up instantly. So the 990 has no delay on Trigger 1. Anybody else have relevant experience on Trigger 2?

My Trigger 1 also powers up instantly when the 990 is turned on. I have the trigger 2 set up to turn on the center and surround amps when the DVD input is chosen and it powers up the amps as soon as I choose that input, so trigger 2 is pretty much instant on also.

so the name is only a marketing "better make it sound sofisticated" one?!

hmm. This strategy differs from what I undertood Outlaws' philosophy was.

You might ask Outlaw about the term - it's not an issue that I've seen discussed previously, so I'm not sure what they meant by it on the spec page.

Last night I checked my 990 for both triggers. I had the unit turn on in DVD mode and the trigger 1 activated instantly and about a second or two later the trigger 2 activated. So their is some type of delay between the activation of trigger 1 and trigger 2. BTW I tried it several times and everything activated the same way each time.

Very interesting, theproletariat. So the two triggers do have a delay between them when triggered at the same time, but when trigger 2 is commanded after trigger 1's already been going for a while there's no point in applying the delay so it kicks in right away.

Gonk, you stated that your trigger from the 990 controls a Panamax power center. Do you have your amp(s) plugged into that power center? I know the amps are shutoff with the trigger from the 990 as my 7125 is, but I was wondering if it is OK to switch the whole amp off with a power center as well. I just ordered a Monster HTS 5100 and was thinking of switching off my M200 and 7125 with it so there would be no standby power draw adding to our country's daily energy waste.

My Adcom 535 (which probably has oldie-but-goodie status by now) is plugged into one of the remote-controlled sockets of a Panamax power center with the trigger signal coming from the 990, so when the 990 turns off, so does the 535. The 990 draws power on standby of course, but not the 535. I thought that was the point of connecting power amps to remote controlled sockets. The setup works fine. Is there some point here that I'm missing?
