I was watching a movie last night and noticed the levels on my 7.1 system sounded out of balance. Popped up the main menu to see all my settings in the 990 were zeroed out. spent a few minutes reconfiguring the calibration level settings.

what causes the 990 to loose it's setup? power outage? maybe I need to get a UPS on it.

A power outage shouldn't do it unless it's a long outage (meaning days). A firmware update or a system reset could do it. Were any other settings affected (bass management, input labels, digital input assignments, ...)?

I didn't notice any other changes but I hadn't setup labels and such since it was relatively new purchase. Don't think I reset it and I did not yet update the firmware.

After re-setting the calibration levels I labeled all my inputs and will keep an eye on it.

This happened to me back when I first got my 990, and long before the firmware update. I was playing around with BYPASS, switching my fronts between SMALL and LARGE and trying the various sub settings (sub, nosub, lfe-only). I found when I went from sub to nosub and back that my calibration level settings all were set back to 0 dB. I have not tried it after the update, and am not sure I want to.

I think that's it. I was messing around with the speaker size settings and crossover points right before I noticed the calibration levels were zeroed out. Maybe they are tied to the speaker sizes ??? I'll mess with it this weekend.
