Does the 990 come with a patch cable to go USB to USB to a computer for upgrade uploads? What other extras come with this unit?

thank you,
Craigo

The 990 does not come with a USB cable; you'll need to provide your own, with type A to type B connectors (the standard type used to connect a computer USB port to a printer, scanner, or USB hub). It comes with power cord, main remote, second zone remote, batteries for the remotes, manual, AM antenna, and FM antenna.

Thanks gonk. I'm glad you mentioned the type that is used for printers. Wasn't even thinking about that, and I have two of them. Can I leave it plugged in when switched off, or should I only connect it for uploads?

thanks again,
Craig

I've left my USB cable plugged into the 990 and coiled up to one side ever since I got it - won't hurt a thing to leave it in place.

I might be the exception here but before getting a USB cable (~$15) for upgrading the 990 you might want to consider to get a RS232 cable (~$3). The reason I am saying this is that I a tremendous problems (in fact it didn't work at all) to install the new firmware using my laptop (centrino CPU, XP OS) and USB2.0. Steve from Outlaws sent me a RS232 and I managed to get the update done without any problems in less than 10 minutes. Credits go to Steve here who was patient and helpful all the way.

I'll keep that in mind Benson. I actually have a couple of USB cables that I can use however, so there's no cash outlay required. Sure hope the USB works.

thanks,
Craig
