If I turn off my 990 and then turn it back on within 30 seconds or so, I just get static instead of sound from it. To cure this, I turn the unit off with the button in the rear. I need to leave it off for a few minutes.

This has happened regularly since I got the unit a few days ago. Everything is set up fine, since it works well unless I do a start/restart in close succession. Tech support at Outlaw said they've never heard of this. Has anyone else? If not, I guess I should figure this is a defective unit. No sense keeping it only to find the problem worsens after 30 days.

I've never run into that here, and I do shut it down and bring it right back up on occasion (maybe a couple times a month when a macro goes awry).

Any idea of what the cause might be, other than a defective unit? I have not upgraded to 3.11.

I have had regular occasions when my sat receiver's toslink sound was not picked up, and needed a reset.
This happened with all my recent receivers/processors, Marantz, 990, and currently Arcam.
Sometimes it happens with the coaxial input from my DVD too.
So does your 990 exhibits this issue when the last chosen input was analog too?

I had the same exact problem. If I accidentally turned it off and then turned it back on right away, I would get this awful "digital" noise rather than sound. Turning it off on the back and waiting always cured it. I never did quite isolate exactly why the problem occurred except that every time it happenned, I had accidentally hit the remote and turned it off them immediately turned it back on.

I talked to Scott and he had me install the latest upgrade. this was about a month ago. At the time he said mine was the first he had heard of this but he did log it at the time.

He felt something was corrupted and installing the upgrade would do the trick. So far, no problems since the upgrade and reset.

Craig
