1)My FM reception stinks. I had no problems with my last AVR, so I know there is signal in the area. I am using the supplied dual-wire antenna but get absolutely nothing. Am I missing something in the setup?

2)I cannot change the number of speakers from 4 to 2. I went throught the setup menu a bunch of times but it won't allow me to disable the rear speakers. My concern is when I do the auto-setup it gives me an error stating only 2 speakers are working, well thats because I only have 2 hooked up how can I solve this problem? Thank you

1) My only suggestion would be fairly simplistic: experiment with the orientation and placement of the antenna.

2) There is a bug in the speaker setup that prevents you from disabling both the center and the surrounds. If you're only running two speakers, you can pretty well treat it like a normal stereo setup and skip auto-setup entirely - the channel calibration really comes into play when you start trying to get equal sound levels from different speaker models at varying distances from the listener, which is why channel calibration was never really an issue in stereo systems.

get a better antenna would be my suggestion. I have an amplified one that sits on top of my 990. it has rabbit ears that extend about 3 feet in each direction. and it's the basement.. so i know it's not easy to get a signal down there. but it works fine.

try an different antenna. they aren't very expensive.

thanks for the tip skyblazer. i thought about a powered antenna, but they are rediculously expensive here in korea. even the ones in the PX are over $50. i can't justify the cost for how infrequently i listen to FM

try if you can just an outdoor antenna, if you have the means to place one outdoors that is. This often times will help quite a bit.
