Is there anyone out there that can explain why sometimes the 990 can't provide its 5-channel stereo or bypass options? It seems to happen to me when I'm watching certain things. For example if I turn on one of those Music Choice channels on Charter that does nothing but play music. When I scroll through the stereo modes the only options the 990 give me are stereo and bypass. Does this have something to do with using a digital connection versus analog?
Just wondering why.

Thanks

I believe that both modes are only available with analog or PCM stereo inputs (I know that 5-Stereo is that way). Your cable service may be using Dolby Digital 2.0 for the music (which would save bandwidth over uncompressed PCM stereo), in which case the 990 decodes the Dolby Digital bitstream and can only offer straight Dolby Digital or Dolby Digital + Pro Logic IIx processing.
