Is there a way to adjust the bass and treble for the center channel? I can only get the mains to change.

The tone controls are global, so there's not a way to adjust for individual channels.

Individual channel tone controls would be a great feature to add to the next software update.

Hint, hint (in case Outlaw is reading this).

Gonk,
Changing the bass and treble will change all the channels then, and not just the mains?

I agree, individual controls would be a huge help.

You may want to add your ideas to this thread . smile
I agree, a good idea for the future.

seems like they could offer this in the current 990 with a firmware update.

It's possible that there are hardware limitations in the DSP engine that would prevent it. Also, altering the tone control for individual speakers rather than globally would be a difficult adjustment to make without skewing the frequency response of your speakers. It would be easier and more useful to include manually adjustable or automatic EQ's for each channel, which still gets into issues with accurate sound reproduction.

So back to my original question. The tonal controls don't see to be global. They only seem to control the mains on my system. Can any one else confirm this in there systems.

I haven't ever used the tone controls - I'll have to experiment a bit to see if I can determine if this is true, but I was under the impression that it affected all channels. It may only operate in stereo modes, though.

I haven't tried them in stereo modes yet. I just got my 990 yesterday. It is a huge jump in sound quality over the 5660 from yamaha I was running. I can hear many more things in movie soundtracks that I could not before. My only complaint would be the tonal controls.

Having only recently (within the past year) converted from old stereo preamps to the 990 pre/pro I guess I'm kidna still "stuck on hold" as it were.

I liked the ability from the front panel to add or remove bass or treble, but admittedly, doing so would affect both stereo channels. So going back to previous generation of preamps there was still no way to adjust individual channels, unless one used an equalizer between preamp and amp.

In my 990/7700 room I was using an Alesis DEQ 830 for this purpose: 8 channels, each one with 1/3 octave EQ, and with multiple programs available.
I liked it especially for my center channel which I still think is too "dark". I have removed it because it added noise to the system. Without it the system is absolutely dead quiet. No, this did not add hum. I solved that months ago. It just added noticebable hiss. So good riddance !!!

Now: it would be great if individual EQ could be added. Also with greater adjustment range.

I agree nfaguys, my rc25 from klipsch does seem a little dark. Not enough to make me unhappy with the 990/7125 combo though. I just wish I could tweek it a little bit. Maybe outlaw will listen and bring out a new firmware update.

I know Scott will see this and if possible next firmware will have it.
