Having only recently (within the past year) converted from old stereo preamps to the 990 pre/pro I guess I'm kidna still "stuck on hold" as it were.
I liked the ability from the front panel to add or remove bass or treble, but admittedly, doing so would affect both stereo channels. So going back to previous generation of preamps there was still no way to adjust individual channels, unless one used an equalizer between preamp and amp.
In my 990/7700 room I was using an Alesis DEQ 830 for this purpose: 8 channels, each one with 1/3 octave EQ, and with multiple programs available.
I liked it especially for my center channel which I still think is too "dark". I have removed it because it added noise to the system. Without it the system is absolutely dead quiet. No, this did not add hum. I solved that months ago. It just added noticebable hiss. So good riddance !!!
Now: it would be great if individual EQ could be added. Also with greater adjustment range.
