Un-Freaking believable! You all know 'that' fire....Huge Saga....Didn't evacuate....was going to burn with home and gear....990 shows up during evac/chaos, etc...
But here I am...with new 990 hooked-up in act of defiance and only had a little time so far....so great...got all pony tricks I want to happen except for one little thing::::::::
I can't get 990 to go into DTS/Matrix mode....all other modes great....DTS/Discrete/Dolby EX/ what evermodes I want....but I understand from the manual the DTS/Matrix should come up with source and 990 only gives me DTS 5.1 or DTS-Neo-6....Is this right???? What are the magic buttons??? Want to buy some ash....cheap?

Glad to hear the 990 survived! DTS ES-Matrix is now called DTS+NEO:6 on a lot of equipment, including the 990. It's the same processing (ES Matrix always used the NEO:6 logic, while ES Discrete had an extra channel of data). It's working right.

Got it! Wondered how 'matrix' could be better...it's not, it's the same and great.
Very impressed so far with 2-channel and upsampling is very nice...7.1 with dvd-audio just stunning....only clips of movies and I just laugh at what you get for the money even if you are a sparse-user like me...lots of things for everyone....trying new back-up 0ppo 971 and comparing to my denon 1600 (old farooj vs. new farooj)...lots of fun..if you don't mind...what is your sub setting for movies with spk/small..just wondering....and thanks again...I can't tell you how close I came to losing everything but can tell you the 990 is great...no going back!

Sounds like you're having some good fun with the system! My sub is set to -6 on the trim (with a 2-channel sub offset of -4), with the LFM-1's volume knob set at 5 and my SMS-1's volume set at 14.

Settings about the same for me (-8 for sub)....got a a good chance to sit alone and run some DVD (Incredibles, Final Destination 2...hokey movie but dts 6.1 crash scene pure demo material).....and now I understand why people rave about this product....which I got for a total of one 'g'. I couldn't see spending 3 g on a preamp without spending at least 3 g for speakers first...The money I saved on the Outlaw I can invest in bigger tripoles for the surround and back...and maybe enough to get a matching M&K 350 to jack into that extra sub input!!! Have a great weekend and thanks one more time!!!!
