Outlaws,

Can the ICBM be used with the 1050 to handle bass management without a separate amp? I'd sure like to gain the benefit of setting individual crossover points right now. For example: Digital input from current DVD player to 1050, into ICBM from 1050's pre-outs, then back into 1050 via 6.1 direct inputs. Is this possible or would using a digital input and the 6.1 at the same time make this impossible? (I'd still want to use the decoder in the 1050 and not the one in my DVD) Just curious. thanks.

Only problems I see are this: how do you tell the 1050 to use the digital in as the source (so you can have that signal sent to the preamp outs), and then also have it use the 5.1 direct input that you get back from the ICBM, amplify it, and send it to the speakers? You'd have to forego the ICBM for the center surround channel, too -- there's a preamp out for it, but the direct input is 5.1. The sub would also have to go from the sub out on he 1050 to the ICBM to the sub (can't pass back through the 1050, but it wouldn't need to anyway).

The last two items wouldn't prohibit using the ICBM and 1050 like you are describing, but the first one appears to. Somebody may have a way around the "which input does it use" problem, but I don't see one.

Thanks Gonk. That's about what I figured too. I may give my DVD player's DD decoder a try to see if it is decent. That way, I could go from DVD, to ICBM, then to 1050 via 5.1 inputs with all speaks set to large thereby being able to set different crossover points via the ICBM.

Right now, I change the x-over point depending on 2-ch music or DD/DTS use since my mains can reach around 57+/-, my CC 75+/-, while rears are around 90+/-. (60hz for music and 80hz for movies gets the best results for me right now)
