Just a clarification on settings for someone who doesn't have the unit, but is considering it.

If I want to add a sub to my stereo listening, from time to time, but I have my mains set on large and I use the LG/LR+sub setting, what crossover will determine the lowpass to my sub?

That is, if my mains are set to large, can I still send everything 60hz and down to my sub? Is there a crossover for the sub that is separate from the high pass filters on the rest of the speakers?

If you have the fronts set to large and the sub set to L/R+Sub, then the 990 will use the front crossover to determine what to copy from the left and right channels to the sub. A 60Hz setting for the front channels' crossover would in this case send the full-range signal to the left and right channels while using a 60Hz low-pass crossover to produce a signal for the sub. There is not a separate crossover for the sub.

Gonk is correct and that mirrors my experience. I actually ended up setting my maggies to "small" to avoid the extra bass reinforcement which was getting a bit boomy in my room.

If the mains are set to large and the sub set to LR+Sub what happens with the LFE and small speaker bass? Does it get sent to the mains and the sub or just the sub?

LFE and small speaker bass is routed to the sub only.
