Using HK 635 as a pre pro and rear surrounds. My amp is a Parasound 1205A.( 5 ch.)
Looking at replacing the HK with a dedicated pre pro, and adding a good 2 channel amp for rears/fronts.
I am very familar with the HK remotes and have no problems with them. I also have( wife) a Dennon AVR which I simply cannot figure out for the life of me.I have also used the Pioneer remotes and find it more user friendly than Denon yet not near as easy as HK.
My question is,Is the 990 remote closer to a HK Denon or Pioneer configuration.
Secondly, how much of a sonic difference will the 990 give me over the HK 635. I listen to music 90%, movies 10%.
My speakers are Monitor Audio GR-20 fronts, MA RS 8's surr. and RS 1's rears.

The 990 would be likely to be a nice sonic upgrade from your HK, I'd suspect. It's a hard thing to quantify, but one common comment from 990 owners is how well it handles music - something that surround receivers aren't always so successful with.

It's hard to say just what you'll think of the 990's remote. I went hunting around for some idea of the remotes being used by Denon , Pioneer , and HK . The Denon remote's layout is a bit jumbled looking for my taste, but that's just one of a number of different remotes currently floating around their receiver line. The Pioneer and HK remotes both have layouts that are (at least in general terms) not too different from the 990\'s main remote .

I've owned many receivers, Sonys, Denons, Pioneer's just not any Hk's and I can honestly say that the 990 remote is a dream come true as far as the rest of the remotes. As far as difference in music, coming from a Denon 3805, a difference of night and day. The thing I like most about the 990 is Outlaw doesn't load down the processor with a bunch of sound formats (cinema, hall, church, etc) that most people never use anyways.
