Hello everyone,

There is an auction on E-bay from a reputable NAD authorized dealer on an NAD 973and 163 combo for $2500 CDN with full warranty and return priveleges. Deal seems very good but have found varied opinions on NAD equipment. Has anyone used or heard these pieces? Had made up my mind on Outlaw equip but this deal seems like a good one. Opinions please!!

Hi batchelor,
I can't offer you an opinion on an NAD\Outlaw comparison...it's been too long since I gave up my NAD integrated..
specs are one thing...
but two words pop up loud and clear...
Customer support...

and then..is the NAD combo a demo ?
I shudder at the tought of greasy little fingers playing with my knobs wink

two more things to consider...
does the return policy include satisfaction ?
What do you want ? confused
good luck with the dilemma

I first brought NAD gear 23 years ago, and I have a NAD 701 receiver and 513 CD player from about 10 years ago. The 701 is doing well but the CD player is a bit flakey. I don't think that I would buy NAD again based on reliability. One of the local HiFi dealers used to carry NAD until they got too many returns - they told me that NAD started manufacturing at different sites and didn't have control over QC. I haven't heard new NAD equipment since there are no longer any local dealers, but Rotel has often been held to be a step up from NAD in the UK, and the Outlaw 1070 sounds comparable to the Rotel RSX-1057. So I'd stick with Outlaw over NAD. Plus the guys at Outlaw will help you out either with the Outlaw equipment or the other components that you use with the Outlaw gear. Just my opinion.

Thanks Fellas,

I am sticking to my original Outlaw plan. Now I just have to decide whether or not I can accomodate the 7125. It would require a new stand/rack as my current Plateau stand would not accomodate the 7125, height or depth wise. Has anyone compared the 7125 and 7075 directly? I know either will be a nice upgrade from my current Denon 2800. Thanks again for yout input!

batchelor,
just saw this post, hope I'm not too late. i have owned nad for many years and have had no service issues. at the mentioned price i feel certain it is either demo or refurb equipment, maybe good maybe not. i recently upgraded to the 990 but am still on the fence between nad and outlaw amps. on pg6 i started a post comparing the two, check out some of the responses. the 163 is not as feature rich as the 990, and the 990 is better for 2 channel than my nad was. i don't think you can wrong either way on the amps, but the 990 should be a lock.
and for contemplation, mr. tribeman (outlaw) was i think the former ceo of nad, hummmmmmmmmmmm.
