Thinking of buying a refurb, anyone having a bad experience with a refurbished 990? Bit cautious here, as last year I got an expensive ProntoPro from Philips on Ebay, and it got broke 6 months later- warranty only 3 months... Barend

To the best of my knowledge there is no such thing as refurb. B-stock is not refurb, but rather pre/pro that was tried and sent back.
I see that there is one on the shopping page now. I'm surprised, because the unit is SO GOOD.
Whatever you buy from outlaw you won't be sorry.

Oh.....I forgot to mention: I like the 990 to the extent that when I needed another unit for another system I bought another 990.

I have purchased 4 B-Stock Outlaw products. The LFM-1, Outlaw 950, Outlaw 990 and Outlaw 755. All have been completely free of any defect, scratch or other issue that would distinguish it from new. Even the manuals where completely sealed.
Buy with full confidence.

Add me to the list of happy B-Stock buyers. Got my 990 new, but my 755 was a B-Stock and I couldn't be happier (well, I could be, but that has nothing to do with my Outlaw gear ;-)
I would jump on the 990 if it was still available - maybe you can call the Outlaws and get them to install the firmware update before they ship if they haven't done so already.

Thanks guys, I'll go for the B stock then... $140 rebate is a nice bonus! I've been looking at Arcam and Lexicon offerings, all far above my budget... Barend

I got my 990 this way and I too initially thought that they were somehow "defective". Turns out they were returns. I also didn't have to screw around with the software update! They did that for me in Mass.! Doubly nice since I'm a Mac user and would have had to borrow a Wintel laptop to do so. I'm a happy camper now!

Well, I just ordered my 990 B-Stock, I wanted to take advantage of the package 7500+990 deal but the money is burning a hole im my pocket. I wish Outlaw had a program were you could get the package deal as long as all the components are ordered in a resonable amount of time, say 6 months to a year. Of course individual shipping would apply. I just couldnt wait until Nov.
