I have an HDMI cable hooked directly into my Scientific Atlanta cable box from the HDMI/DVI input on the Samsung HP-S50503 plasma and when I use the source button on the Samsung remote to get to th HDMI channel, it just skips over it. I cannot find anything in the instructions about it. Any help?

I'm guessing you mean the HP-S5053 . I'm downloading the manual at the moment, but I'll be back to marking up corridor sections before it's done (21MB) so I'll look at it later. In the meanwhile, if you swap the SA box and DVD player so the SA box connects to HDMI2 does HDMI1 reappear and HDMI2 disappear?

It sounds like your Samsung is not recognizing that the HDMI input is active. Did it skip over that input before you plugged in the HDMI cable?

The manual (page 48) indicates that you can only edit the name for inputs if there is an active input present - inputs with nothing connected would be grayed out. There's also a note at the bottom of that page which says "HDMI input can only be selected when the external device is turned on and connected via HDMI." Those two items make me suspect that the cable box either isn't recognized as a source (perhaps the HDMI output hasn't been enabled on the box presently), the cable is faulty, or the box is simply defective.
