Just wanted to bounce this off the fine folks here to get some ideas.

I hooked up my 990 today (impressive so far!) and when I played an SACD my channel levels were all wacky. The rear was twice as loud as everything else. I found this odd since my player is a Marantz DV-6400 which handles all levels, crossovers, and bass management itself. Those setting have not changed from my old receiver to the Outlaw but the rear channel is extremely loud.

I guess the question I have is, what impact does the channel setting of the Outlaw have on the direct analog inputs? I have turned the rear channels all the way down on the player but they are still too loud. If I turn them down even further on the Outlaw, it will effect everything else and I already have them set right for DVD/DirecTV/Xbox...everything else.

Thoughts? Is there something about the direct inputs I don't know.

Did you have the levels set in the Marantz? If so, you'll have them set twice - I'd try zero'ing all the settings in the Marantz.

Yeah the levels were set to my Onkyo (old receiver) because it's level adjustments did not affect the multi channel analog inputs. Everything was done with the source.

So adjusting the channel levels on the 990 will affect all normal surround modes (DPL, DTS) AND the multi channel inputs?

Crap, NEVERMIND.

I had the front and rear channels reversed on the multi channel hookup.

Got some more time to sit down and listen and thought to myself "man it sure sounds like the front channels are coming out of the rear, but that's not...poss....oh."

Thanks again, gonk smile
