The remote control unit of Outlaw 990 can not control my Rotel RCD-1072 CD player. I tried the two remote control command codes listed on the Outlaw mannaul, but they did not work. Do you have suggestions on this. Thanks!

The 990's remote is a UEI Catalyst48. UEI makes a lot of remotes, including the Radio Shack and One-For-All "JP1" remotes that are documented at Hi-Fi Remote . I'd check there for possible additional codes.

If you get really bold (and don't mind potentially voiding the warranty on the remote) you could even try the JP1 interface. I've got a co-worker who is experimenting with it at the moment, but I've never tried it myself.

The code for the RCD-1072 on the Rotel site appears to be the same as other Rotel CD players. You should try the 0157 and 0420 CD device codes again. Maybe you did something wrong.

Thank you much for the suggestions. I have tried the Rotel CD remote control code 0157 and 0420 many times. I also tried several other codes that I got from the Rotel web site. I still can’t control my Rotel RCD-1072 CD player using the remote control unit of my 990 preamp. I am sure that I have input the codes correctly. I can control my DVD, Dish Network Satellite receiver and Sony TV with the 990 remote without any problem.

At the moment, I do not want to try the JP1 interface as suggested by gonk. I worry that I might mess up the remote.

I am wondering whether anyone has good luck in putting the Rotel RCD-1072 under control by 990’s remote.

(I would like to mention that the original remote control unit supplied by Rotel does not have a button for power on/off. I am now powering on/off of the CD player using 990’s 2nd 12-volt trigger.)
