Okay, I haven't upgraded to the 990....still have the 950. But I'm assuming the stereo bypass feature is common to both units.

Anyway, when I go to the back panel of the 950 and turn the 80hz analog crossover thing to 'off', shouldn't that result in no subwoofer output and a full range signal being sent to the mains?? I have my sub calibrated for movies, but I just purchased some new speakers that go low enough to where I don't really want to use the sub for music anymore. I like to run my Denon 2900 through the bypass of the 950, but I don't want to be screwing with the sub every time I do this. How do I just get the sub to ZIP IT!!! lol

The switch only applies to the 5.1 analog input of the 950 - not the stereo bypass mode - and it only controls whether or not the high-pass filter is enabled (the low-pass filter that steers data to the sub is always active, something that led them to revise the multichannel analog bass management for the 1070 and 970). The 950's stereo bypass sends full range to the mains, but if the mains are set to small it takes a copy of that signal and uses that to generate a subwoofer signal.

Thanks Gonk....I was under the impression that it was possible to completely bypass everything on the 950 unless I enabled the switch. So do I understand you correctly that if I set my mains to 'large' then I shouldn't have any sub output in stereo bypass?

And does the same apply for the 6.1 analog input?

You understand correctly - large mains and stereo bypass will yield no sub output.

The 5.1 analog's low-pass to the sub will always be present (that input behaves completely independently of the digital bass management settings).
