Does anyone know what code to use to control the 990? The only ones available in the mx800 editor are the 950 and [outlaw 1]. I've tried the outlaw 1 and some things seem to work but the buttons as they are labeled in the remote lcd do not control the correct functions. For instance if I press the dvd input button the cd input lights up on the 990. I also can't seem to turn the 990 on with either the supplied remote or the mx800. It turns on when I press and input selection like dvd. But it doesn't turn on when I press the power button on the supplied remote or the on button on the 800.

The 990 is designed that way. The power button is a discrete off command. The method for turning it on is to select the desired input.

The Model 950's remote commands (which are also the ones contained in [Outlaw 1]) are laid out differently and are not compatible with the 990. I've got some files for the 990 here (and in the "Remote Files" link in my sig). It includes a couple different files for the MX-700, and those files are compatible with the MX-800 and MX-850.

The 990 includes discrete power on and off commands. Rather than have two power buttons, Outlaw merged the power on command in with the input commands - any input selection will turn the 990 of if it isn't already. The "Power" button is purely a "power off" command. This is very handy for writing macros (which the MX-800 can do lots of). My MX-700 review has a fairly current copy of my setup, including all the macros I have on the power on, power off, and MAIN device buttons.

The 800 editor only seems to let me input .mxf files and yours is an mxd file. I also wonder how it's going to see that file? If I load it into the editor won't it load the whole remote? I am just looking to load the 990 codes not the whole remote. How did you input the 990 without the initial code? I don't mind doing all of the work by hand, I'm just wondering how it's done.

Well It looks like when I do import I can import either mxd or mxf files. So I looked at both of the files and Gonks has the 990, tuner and zone2. What do all of those do? When I import just the 990 option I get a dialog box that says "used external devices -- main and pace" What is this?
