I have a couple of questions about the 990. Maybe somebody can help me out. - Night Mode only works for DD, not DTS. Understood, and I have observed this. But I was watching a Dolby Digital DVD and night mode seemed to have no effect, yet there were massive amounts of dynamic range. Could this be due to the mastering of the DVD? In other words, is the range compression an aspect of the DVD or the processor?
- I love being able to flip to bypass on analog in and have the sub turn off with full range to my towers. But I think this capability only exists if you use the L/R+sub setting. Can someone better describe what L/R+sub actually does with bass frequencies when not in bypass and it actually has the sub on? Just looking for a better description than...
which blends some of the bass from the left and right speakers into the subwoofer. - I recently read an article about how processors handle the LFE signal. Here is a link to the article. LFE Article . Can anyone tell me if the 990 follows these guidelines? For example, if your crossover is set to 40 Hz, yet the LFE signal on a DVD has some 75 Hz data, is that data lost from 40 Hz to 75 Hz?

Regarding question 3, I guess I'm curious what it does then. For example, if you have the crossover set to 40 Hz, does it move anything on the LFE channel above 40 Hz to mains? Or is it that the high-pass crossover is only applied to all speakers except the sub? So for example if all are set to small and at 40 Hz, if there is a 75 Hz signal on the LFE channel of a DVD, it still goes out to the sub?

So given the configuration I previously mentioned (40 Hz crossover), and given that there is an LFE track, and given that this LFE track has a 66 Hz signal, this 66 Hz signal still goes to the sub, right? Just want to ensure I understand. Thanks for you help.
