Hi all!

I am a new owner of the 990/7125 Combo and so far I really like all the cool features and most of all the sound!

I have 2 questions for all the pro's out there...

1) My DVD / SACD (Sony NS90V)player has the ability to set speaker size. My gut tells me to set the speaker size to "Large" on the NS90V and set the speaker size to "Small" on the 990.

Is this correct?

2)Also, after doing the speaker auto set-up, I notice much more prominent bass listening to music (stereo) than DVD movies. Because of this, I must adjust the SW volume "up" for DVD's and "down" for CD's.

Any thoughts on this?

I appreciate your help!

Pete

1) Trust your gut - set your speakers to "large" at the player and "small" at the 990. This will disable the player's bass management for any analog outputs. It won't matter for the player's digital output, since that output would not receive any bass management at the player.

2) There is a bug (which I've been told is slated to be fixed by the firmware update that's in development) that causes audio inputs to disregard the subwoofer trim setting. If you have your sub trim set to a negative value and your two-channel sub offset is still at zero, you may see this as a louder sub in music. One option is to apply some two-channel sub offset (which is what I'd recommend); another is to calibrate the sub so that the 990's sub trim is zero.

Gonk,

Thanks so much for the quick reply.
Your informative posts on this forum are very much appreciated!

What/Where is 2 channel sub offset?
Are you talking about the SW setting in the Channel Calibrate set-up screen?
I assumed this setting applies to all inputs.

My SW is set at -6db after the speaker auto set-up.

Should I play with that setting (say raise it to 0db)and see if it equalizes the bass response for both DVD's and CD's?

Thanks for your help!

Pete

This is truly a great owners manual!!!

Thanks for steering me in the right direction.
Will post the results tomorrow!
