Are there any Outlaw 990 owners who have successfully programmed the Universal Remote MX-3000? If so, I'd love to have a peek at your discrete codes (especially for power on and power off)... the codes that gonk posted for the MX-750 and MX-850 are incompatible with the MX-3000.

Thanks!

I haven't seen any MX-3000 users among the 990 crowd. That's quite a beast of a remote - I played with the software a while back.

The 990/7500 Combo are on my list to purchase in the near future. I also have the MX-3000 and I would like the codes also for the 990.

If either of you put together an MX-3000 file and want to share it, just PM me and I'll add it to my Remote Files page.

This is funny, I came here and registered for this reason exactly. I have had my 990/7500 setup for a while now (Oddly used in a high end 2.1 channel system instead of 5.1)any way, I just brought home an MX-3000 from work and was playing with it in my systems. My wife loves the remote so we decided to keep the one I have been playing with, but I cannot get some of the codes to work. I was able to get a lot of them working by using the SHerwood file that was in the MX-3000 IR library, but the On and off did not function properly, and for the life of me I cannot get the Volume up and down to track with a button hold. I can only get it to spit out 1-2 repeats per hold down instead of constant repeat of the code.

I was hoping to get some sort of IR file for the 990 so that I could build a decent Template for the 990 and then post it here and on Remote Central.
I used the Video1 Button as my on command (since I usually watch Satellite before a DVD in my bedroom) and it is working out fine like that.

I am also an Elan dealer, and do have several customers that are using the 990 now after hearing mine and reading reviews. It would be really nice to have a full IR library for all of the Outlaw products, especially for Stand alone operations that do not have the ability of RS232 control.

Hopefully some one over at Outlaw can get us the IR library for these as it would be a huge timesaver for those of us using their preamps and amps in highend systems.

Thanks
Justin

If it's like my other learning remotes, you'll need to hold down the buttons on the original remote when learning the command for at least two or three seconds - that'll teach it to send a continuous command.

Believe me, I have tried every different method of learning in the Volume, and it will not output for more than 2 repeats. I cannot get it to do a constant roll up or down when the button is held.
I think I am going to end up going to 232 control though, so problem solved. Hopefully.

If there's a built-in code for the Model 950, that will give you the volume control for the 990 (although most other commands will be scrambled). The 950 could be listed under one of its clones (Atlantic Technology P-2000, Sherbourn PT-7000, Fosgate FAP-T1).

I just got done trying all of those, as well as the 965 IR data, and all of them will control the volume, just will no continually roll up or down with a buton hold either. Same problem.

I have tried learning, every other IR database I can find, and nothing so far will make it work properly. I have never had anything act like this.

IR repeat count has no effect on it at all either. This is frustrating as all hell. I can't wait for my 232 controller to get here so I can be done with it all.

Thanks for the hints thought man. I appreciate the info.

I didn't see where you have tried this, so forgive me if you already have.

I've got the MX-700 so I have a little bit of experience with Universal Remote's software operations. I was just browsing for the highlights on the MX-3000 software and it looks like it also allows you to import commands from ccf files for the pronto remotes.

Check out this file in the Philips Pronto and Pronto Classic file section at Remote Central. It's for the 950, but it does have commands on it for volume up and down. Not having a 950 (or 990), I can't test it to say whether it will work as desired, but it would be a snap for you to import it and try it out.

I've used this trick for for commands on different pieces of gear. Most recently for discrete on/off commands for my dvd player. Just use the universal browser in the software, find the button with the command you want, and drag and drop it where you want it. Easy!

In case the link doesn't work as expected, you want the 950 file posted by Zak Sulak. The other two files don't seem to have it, at least not where I could easily find it.
