Like alot of folks I use my Dish DVR alot. I have it hooked up to the 990 via S-video and optical cable.

It looks great going thru the 990. My friend come over and noticed the picture quailty right away. Improvement over my old system.

Anyway, when i'm in the DVR menu the picture jumps slightly every 5 seconds or so. Like it's not locking on. No glitches happen with it's playing anything off the hard drive or when watching "live" sat feed.

I think maybe it could be the video level might be to high or something when in the DVR menu. ONce i take it out of menu mode, it's fine.

Just thought i'd mention this incase someone else is seeing this problem too. My DVR doesn't have component outputs, only S-video, or composite ewww!

I, too have dishnetwork DVRs. Have 721s and 508. No problem with what you have described. Probably you called dish. IF you have the $5/mo coverage they will swap. If you don't, you might consider getting it. I'm glad I have it. Just got a replacement within 2 days for a 721 with HD failure.
...and I like the 721. Actually I have two 721 hooked into my 990. Both use RF remote. THe one in the basement connected to 990's Video 3. The living room 721 to Video 2. I can send either to records outs. Plus there are some other mixdowns that I do.

And it's nice to be able to record something while watching something else...or two simultaneously.
