I just replaced my Marantz 5500 with the 990/7125....fantastic sound...much better that I expected. The reviews on the 990 are good and the product is just short of unbelievable. I have encountered a problem with my Optoma EP 758 projector recognizing the signal from my Samsung HD-841 DVD player. At first there was no problem...especially if I turned the 990/7125 and DVD player on first then the projector. But now the screen displays the information "Samsung..." logo and when the DVD is started the screen flickers blue and there is no picture (you can here the audio but no pic). The DVD player is set to 1080 as it is an upconverting player and the DVI connection has been chosen in the DVD setup menu....Any suggestions?

How long is the DVI cable? Others have found that adding the extra couple feet of length from player to 990 (as compared to the long cable to the projector going straight to the device) is enough to exceed the limits of the DVI cable travel.

The cable is ok...it worked fine with the previous receiver...the Samsung logo also comes on so I know that the signal is getting to the projector and the weird thing is that when I initially connected everything it worked great..thanks

Did your previous projector have DVI switching?

I'm asking because DVI has a length limit of only about 15 feet, and it's not unheard of for the addition of just a one or two feet can cause the signal to drop enough that the projector can't do anything with the signal that it gets.

My previous receiver did not have DVI switching.....but we watched an entire movie the first night that I changed out the receiver and installed the 990/7125, then the sudden disappearance of the picture and the resultant flickering screen. I would think that if the length of the DVI cable made a difference in this particular setup then it should never have worked. Is that the correct assumption? I can try a shorter cable to rule out the cable length as a problem. Thanks Gonk for the response. You helped me with some issues I had when I first got my 1050..thanks

It's a little odd that it would work for a while and then quit. Did anything else change? Any cabling adjusted in back that could have allowed for some jostling? I guess I'd probably recommend checking all the connections and checking all the menu settings.
