I bought the digital, but I don't think it's worth the extra money. Having a discrete number is nice, but if it's reading like 72.5 it'll flash back and forth between 72 and 73 really fast. Sometimes it can be difficult to read because it does that so fast. You have to kind of guess ahead of time what you're reading is so that you can set it properly. It has a movable range of about 20 db, so it's not like you have to pinpoint it. I imagine you'll mostly be trying to hit about 70-75 db for room calibration? Shouldn't be a problem. If you were all over like 60 something to 90 or over 100 db's, then it could get annoying.
