Am I missing something paingfully obvious?
You've confirmed that your center speaker itself is not broken.
I'd try to isolate the problem by performing the following tests:
- Confirm the center line and center speaker cables are functional by swapping them with the left front. In either case the left front speaker should still function. If not, the cables are suspect.
- Route the left front out from the 990 to the center front input of the 770, and confirm whether there is output from the center speaker. No output suggests that the center front amplifier section of the 770 is suspect.
- Route the center line out from the 990 to the left front input of the 770, and confirm whether there is output from the left front speaker. No output suggests that the center output of the 990 preprocessor is suspect, or there is a 990 settings problem/conflict.
The manual calibration mode menu might be useful for these tests because they allow you to route the calibration signal to a particular speaker from the 990 itself.
