The manual implys that you can just connect an emitter to the IR output and any IR signal that hits the receiver window on the 990 will be sent along out the IR output to the emitter. But I couldn't get that to work in various combinations of emitters / connection block.

The use of the 794-10 to interface with the 990 input seems well documented in the Saloon, but I haven't found any evidence of anyone being sucessful getting the IR output to work. I had given up...but since krisdz reopened this I do have one more thing to try this weekend.

I talked to the Steve from Outlaw and seem to me that he doesn’t know what I’m talking about. He mentioned that I should use flasher with stereo plug not mono. Then he retreat and say that I need use Xantech 794 (the INPUT connecting block). So far I know they have no clue what they build. Outlaw is using the Sherwood P-965 design so I call Sherwood and guess what? They have no clue either.
My question is why they releasing a product which can’t be supported. The team or person who designs it has something in mind when developed it.
We are not talking here about time and space relativity or how to build space shuttles.
It is just simple IR OUTPUT JACK for crying out loud.
Regards and best wishes to all Outlaw and Sherwood scientists who design something what is such a mystery. I think we should create foundation to solve the big UNKNOWN IR OUT PORT problem.

Well I did try one more thing (powering the connection block at the top of its current range) and still cannot get the IR Output to work. So the UNKNOWN IR OUT PORT (UIOP) problem will remain a mystery. I didn't try connecting the port to a meter or scope to see if it passes any sort of signal at all...I suppose that would be the next research step.

If anyone happens to open up their 990 (including Outlaw), take a look to see if it is connected to anything. In the meantime I am using the more-expensive and less asthetically-pleasing workaround of a separate IR system.
