Will the 990 display on-screen system information through the component output such as volume (when its changed), surround mode, etc.?

Can get everything else to work on the unit however to see what processing mode is active I have to look at the display on the 990 itsself.

The 990 will not display the "pop-up" information (input, volume, surround mode) for component inputs. If you have an s-video or composite input that is passed through the component output, it will have these (the pop-ups are added prior to the transcoding).
