I'm new to the the forum and have a question to all. Is anyone using their 990 with electrostatic speakers. I'm using Martin Logan in our TV room and looking to buy a new processor for HT only. Any information would be helpful. I may post this in the processor forum if no responce here sorry if you read it again.

I don't know if anyone is using Martin Logan with the 990, but we have a number of Maggie fans around here and I do know of some ML owners running Model 950's.

Brad, it sounds like I'm in a similar situation. I'll be moving to the 990 (from a Yamaha 2092) in a few weeks in my TV room, which houses my ML reQuests and Cinema. The 990 will be used for HT and stereo listening.

I will likely also get the 7500 at the same time to power the front speakers, bi-amping the reQuests with the remaining channel for the Cinema.

I have MLs running on a 990/7125. The sound is very well defined with very good imaging.

As one of those Maggie fans I can report my pleasure with their sound in stereo (which I thought demanded higher quality than HT if you ignore the volume preferences and LFE) when fed by the 990 driving nOrh Le Amp II monoblocks. Of course Magneplanars are not electrostatics so this may be irrelevant. But in any case doesn't the power amplifier count for more than the preamp in determining speaker performance?

After reading all of Gonk's great info and comparisons I couldn't help but take a listen. I ordered a 990 today. I'm looking forward to hearing how it sounds. Thanks for all of your replies.
