From what I've read on a Dutch board, the transformers used in at least some Outlaw products feature the required windings to do 230V. Would adding a switch to the back to switch between 120/60 and 230/50 really be that expensive?

The guy I read about, had actually opened up his brand new Outlaw and soldered the required components in himself. That customers are willing to sacrifice the warrenty like that might seem like praise, but it's sad really.

Forget CE certification and red tape stuff like that, Outlaw could lower the 230V threshold significantly, to just: "buy at own risk", from "gotta mod it yourself buddy".

Any thoughts?

Having said that, I think you raise a worthwhile point. The regions that Outlaw directly markets to uses 120V/60Hz so there hasn't been a lot of discussion of it, but there could be an opportunity here.

The problem is that you can't just "forget CE certification". The guy you read about obviously bought his unit in the US and brought it over, but if the Outlaws actually sold a product in the EU without the appropriate CE certification shown they could be liable to penalities or REALLY becomming OUtlaws!

In addition to what Podboy stated no manufacturer can condone adulterating their product regardless of warranty issues. Safety standards like CE, UL and ETL prohibit this. If people do it themselves, like car modifications, thats up to them.

I think the question probably should be "would it be possible for Outlaw to provide a product with a 115/230 switch on the back" - with the question assuming (of course) that the unit still meets CE, FCC, and other necessary guidelines. The Model 200 offered this switch (as does the M2200), but otherwise all of Outlaw's offerings are 120V. Since their primary market has been North America, that makes sense. Without a distribution network in a 230V/50Hz market, there is probably not a very strong business case for spending the extra money for including a switch on the windings (even if the windings support it).
