I just recieved my 990. I am connecting DVD to DVD component. Cable box to Video 1 component I wanted to use an HDMI/DVI cable on DVI out to Phillips plasma. Reading said I would need component as well for 990 setup screen. All is good to this point. Hooked up the HDMI/DVi cable configured television. hooked up composite on monitor out to av1 on television. Ran through setup for 990.

However, I can not get a picture on tv except through AV1 source. What did I do wrong?

The 990 does not convert any of the three lower signals (composite, S-video, or component) to the DVI output. If you want DVI out, you must put DVI in. It will transcode between the three lower signals, but treats the DVI as something totally different.
