I am currently pre-wiring my basement finish project. I am planning for a 990/7125 when I'm done.

I want to use Zone 2 for stereo speakers in the main floor. What should I pre-wire for the IR repeater? The manual mentions 1/8 inch (3.5mm mono phone plugs but doesn't mention the wire type. Also...does Radio Shack offer some sort of IR remote sensor or am I limited to the Niles/Xantech stuff out there?

I'm considering a RF remote but if this works I might be able to get by using this for vol control etc.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You could probably give Outlaw a call and they'd help, although there's likely to be a good answer or two coming shortly from folks around here (there's at least an electrician or two in the crowd). One thing to be aware of with the 990 (and other devices with IR inputs) is that not all hardware is compatible. Both the 990 and my Pace cable box have IR inputs that are not compatible with my very basic Xantech setup. The 990 requires a 794-10 interface module for Xantech.
