Hi All,
I currently have an Outlaw 950 and an Adcom GFA 7605 Amp (125x5). I want to upgrade to a 990 BUT I also want to upgrade my amplifier. Unfortunately I can't do both

So my question is this. Should I upgrade the processor or the amp to an Emotiva MPS-1 (200X5). Either option will cost about the same amount of money to upgrade I'm just wondering what I would benefit from the most.

The rest of my system consist of Rocket 750's and an SVS Ultra sub.

I am no expert, so please take my reply with a grain of salt, but I would think that generally newer/better DACs would provide more bang for the buck than an amp upgrade, unless your really need more power (which I don't think is the case here). However, this is assuming the typical HT set up.

Just my $0.02.

A good amp can last you a long time - that's one of the benefits of separates. From that perspective, if your Adcom is keeping up with the Rockets you'll likely get the most benefit from upgrading the 950 to the 990. It'd also be a less expensive upgrade ($1100 assuming you kept the 950, less that if you put the 950 on Audiogon).

I agree with gonk. I also have the Adcom 7605 with the 990 and it does a great job on Powering my 4 ohm Polks with absolute beautiful sound so if the 7605 powers your Rockets fine, go with the 990.
