How old is you copy of Fifth Element. My copy is only recorded in 2 channel. If I remember correctly, they just released the 5.1 version recently.

Some of the earlier DVD releases were sold as 2.0 (prologic).

This feature is confusing. You turn the 990 on by pressing the input selection button and off by pressing the power button (which should be labeled OFF not POWER). If you want to watch a DVD select the DVD at the bottom end of the controller and the 990 will turn on and select the right input. If you are going to watch TV select Video 1 or wherever you have TV configured. This is clever because it requires one keystoke instead of two. Now if they would just tell users in the manual in bold print it would not confuse new users like you and me.

I should have added that turning on to the tuner can be really confusing. Select the AM/FM toggle button once and it will turn on to AM or FM, press it again and it will change from AM to FM or vice versa.
