How do you set up your 990 when playing SACD? The reason I ask is that a few posts show a setup different than mine. My signature will tell you my system components. I have analog out cables from my dvd player to the pre-amp. I push the 7.1 button on the remote. speakers are set to small with 80hz crossover.

A couple of recent SACD titles that have my system really singing: GOT SWING with Erich Kunzel and the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra...and CHRISTMAS with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Both are from TELARC.

I listen to mostly classical and jazz.

My Yamaha S1500 has been relegated to audio duty by the Oppo - the S1500 gets CD's, DVD-A's, and SACD's while DVD-Video is handled by the Oppo. For DVD-A and SACD, I have the S1500 connected to the 7.1 Direct input on the 990 - like you, I pick the 7.1 Direct input on the remote and away I go. My speakers are also set to small, with an 80Hz crossover everywhere except the mains (which crossover at 60Hz).

I use a Denon DVD-1920. Same as Gonk, for SACD and DVD-A I use the analog connections and the 7.1 direct input. The difference is that I have all my speakers set to large, which, if I recall correctly, means no digital bass processing.

Thanks. coming from you guys, I feel better. I thought maybe I was missing some setting deep within the 990. But, looks like I'm all set.

Just got word that Telarc's new Hiromi release, "Spiral" is recorded using a fabulous new recording setup. I can't wait to hear it.
