I have read the AVM30 manual. If the author was referring to things such as THX processing and other mundane things, I find it almost a mute point. To me, from what I've read, the 990 would sound equal to the AVM30 with only a slight nod to the Anthem for 2 channel. Not enough for me to spend an extra grand.
