I discovered how to check the version of firmware your 990 has. I'm curious to see what versions are out there, since I've seen some differences in behavior of the serial protocol between my unit and kwoodrow's unit.
If you put the unit in standby (yellow LED lit), hold down enter (center of the navigation arrows) on the front panel and tap "input" you'll get a version up on the display. WARNING: Be careful not to hit enter and menu, as this will reset the 990 and you will lose your settings.
Mine is VER 3.00 03

Different version here: 3.07.04. The reason may be that my unit is newer (about one month old).

My 990 was a very early unit as well. Running VER 3.00 03 It's interesting to see that there are different versions out there. I wonder what the difference is....

3.00 o3 here too. I wonder if there's any benefit to flashing up to 3.07.04. And if there is, how?

I was in the first pre-order batch, so I guess that makes sense.
I'd like to hear what the changes are, and if Outlaw will provide us with the tool and firmware image to upgrade our units.

If there aren't any firmware issues, then the protocol document we have is not correct in a number of areas. We are getting back values that are not documented, and it seems more likely that they are due to the box returning values not documented than there being bugs in the protocol.
We'd really like to get an updated protocol document so that our driver can be taken up to 100%.
