I bought a 990. Most things seem fine except I cannot get subwoofer output.

I have 5.1 speakers. 4 onix reference 2 + onix reference 100 center + onix rocket UFW 10 subwoofer. The amplifer is outlaw 770.

UFW 10 is a powered subwoofer. It is connected to 990's 'SW1' output.

When I did the 'automatic setup', I did hear the test sound coming out of each of my speakers, including the UFW 10 subwoofer. However, after the setup is done, I cannot get any sound out of the subwoofer. I played DVDs and CDs on my Samsung DVD player (which connects to 990 using optical), the five speakers are fine, but the subwoofer is just silent.

Is there a setting on the 990, turning the subwoofer off?

Or did I get a broken 990?

Go into the setup and manually set the sub to (L+R/LFE) and then set your crossover points to whatever values you like. All of my speakers are pretty competent with bass so I've set them all as "LARGE" in the speaker setup and have crossed over center/RR/LR at 80hz and the mains at 40hz.

Also, make sure the input for your source isn't set to "bypass" as that will effectively silence the sub.

I had the same problem plus the center channel. I tried turning the sub and center on in the menus, but it had no effect. I moved the microphone lower and re-ran the Setup routine. It found the sub and center the second time. I don't know if it was due to repositioning the mic or the 990 just missed it the first time, but all is well now. Perhaps that will help you.
