I am going to upgrade to the 990/7125 combo soon. I think the answer to this quesiton is OF COURSE but just to make sure. The second zone on the 990:

Does the second zone have its own settings for Bass/Treble, speaker size, subwoofer = Yes/No, etc.. My second zone is on some outdoor speakers. My current receiver makes me change my settings when I send sound to them. So I have to set the subwoofer=none or it sends low frequency to the subout inside the house! I also have to change the bass and treble settings. When I watch a movie I have to put everythin back. Whats the case with the 990???

The second zone is a completely separate two-channel analog pre-amp, so it does not affect the main zone settings at all. You select the active input for the second zone separately and control the volume separately.

Second Zone Use 101 (First semester)

I try to squueeeeeze everything out of my equipment that I can (utility-wise). Zone 2 outputs are connected (as I've mentioned) to a "sub-system" in LivRm. Z2 feeds an extra preamp to small amp to headphone circuit. The analog audio outs from Z2 feed this as well as L&R inputs on 2d small TV (also fed from Z2 vid out). So when grandson is here there can be two independent "entertainment" systems ongoing. Furthermore, being darned lazy smile I can use the Z2 remote z2 headphone and/or the Z2s TV remote if I want sound out of that. Would do that if I used headphone circuit (which is great...Dolby in phones...WOW) laugh from front of 990.

So there are lots of ways to do it. You could have your cake and eat it too by running another parallel from Z2 outs to a system outside..as well.

In the review posted on the Outlaw site re the 990, Joel Brinkley says that the 990's second zone is 7.1 capable. I only see stereo outs to a second zone on the back--can anyone explain this, or did Mr. Brinkley make a mistake?

Hello ElderGamesman,

The Model 990 has a 2-channel second zone output with composite and S-video output.

Sorry for the confusion.

Scott
