I was wondering if anyone else has noticed that the 990 is less sensitive to IR remote controls?

From 15 feet away I have to work to get the 990 to respond to both the 990 remote and my MX500. The 990 is in the same location my 1050 was, and that receiver always worked just fine.

Could be something is up with my 990, but I wanted to see if anyone else saw something like this.

Thank

The 990's IR sensor is all the way to the left, whereas the 950's sensor (which was always a very sensitive sensor) was near the center. In my system, that was a big deal, since the cabinet door completely covers the 990's sensor. (Along similar lines, I used to have trouble with our old entertainment center and my DVD recorder because the cat would perch on top and hang his very fluffy tail down along the left side of the equipment rack, covering the DVD recorder's sensor window.) Could you have a similar obstacle getting in the way?

I find mine very sensitive. My 990 is about 3 1/2 feet above the floor and responds even if the remote is lying flat on the floor.

What are you and your remote doing flat on the floor? Should we be disturbed that you describe your 990 as "sensitive"?

Have you changed anything else in the room? In particular, if you've added a plasma display, that is going to get in the way of ANY of the IR remotes you might be using.

The only thing that has changed in the room is the 990 and 7100 in place of the 1050. I will try moving things a little, but I think I might have unit with a crappy IR detector.

Thanks for replies.

My 990 is very sensitive to the remote, especially to the MX500. The MX500 is so powerful that it works even if it is pointed away from my 990.Is it possible that there is something blocking your sensor? It is to the right of the amber standby light.
