Thanks for the email update! but you failed to even mention the 970. I already own the 990, and I have been waiting to receive a 970 update. What is going on with this amp?. Is it on the way in or out? or now sitting on the back burner for some reason? I was looking forward to going balanced with this new amp, and filling my speakers with its 300 watts per channel. How about a heads up!

Dobeman,

I think DOBEMAN means the 790 - the 7x300W amp - of which there is no mention in the latest newsletter. The impression I got from the folks who made it to the HE show in New York was that the 790 was getting pretty heavily revised and would likely not arrive on the scene until this fall at the earliest. On the other hand, there is some mention of a replacement for the 7100, which could be interesting. Perhaps an answer for the folks who want an amp that shares the same faceplate design style as the 990? EDIT: the newsletter has not appeared in the "Announcements" section yet, so folks who haven't gotten on the mailing list won't have seen it yet. It's long, but I'll post it here anyway since there's at least one person (and probably more) who would be interested in it: It's summer and for many of you that means it is time to take it a bit easy and slow down the pace of business and life while enjoying the outdoors, perhaps a ballgame or two, and taking some time off for vacation. For the Outlaws, however, things are a bit different. Our Spring theme was "We ain't kidding!", and with the introduction of the Model 990 we've clearly followed through on that commitment. As we move into the warm weather of summertime, a new theme seems appropriate. So, we are pleased to announce that "The heat is on!". Of course, we hope that doesn't mean you'll end up with a big electricity bill from running the air conditioning too much, but let's simply say that throughout the next few months the Outlaws are going to be HOT!
We'll start to turn up the burners with some brief announcements today, and as the summer progresses you will hear MUCH more from us on how we are keeping things HOT.
Model 990 News:
Our thanks to everyone for their patience in waiting while we worked through the incredible number of names on the Model 990 reservation list. The first shipment was sold through in less than three weeks, but the second shipment is here and a third is due to go on the water shortly. That means that as you read this, we have sent out the last of the messages to those who placed reservations for the Model 990, and the list is clear.
Thus, we are pleased to announce that the Model 990 is now available from stock for immediate shipment. There is no longer any need to place a reservation; simply go directly to the order form to set things in motion.
If you have been hesitant to place an order until the first "professional" review of the Model 990 was available, that wait is over as well. Highly respected home theater expert Brent Butterworth has a tremendous review of the Model 990 in the current issue of "Curtco's Digital TV." It confirms the many favorable comments about the Model 990's sonic performance and features that have appeared in a number of the on-line forums, and this is only the first of many reviews that are in the works. We encourage you to pick up a copy. Of course, you need look no further than our own Outlaw Saloon to see honest feedback from many satisfied Model 990 owners.
For those who already have a Model 990, please keep the comments coming in to the Saloon. We read them all and will do our best to help anyone with setup questions. We also take all product improvement suggestions to heart. Thanks again for making this the most successful Outlaw product introduction ever.
For those of you who have been on the fence, we believe that the jury has spoken. If you want to heat up the summertime in your own home theater, your new Model 990 is now only a mouse-click away!
New Product News:
Now that the introduction of the Model 990 is complete, the Outlaws are turning their attention to completing the development of a number of the products we've previewed over the past year, and more recently at the Home Entertainment Show in New York. We'll have more to say in depth about each of these over the course of our RED HOT SUMMER, but here are some brief morsels to bring you up to date on our progress.
Model 1070 News:
The Model 1070 has passed both its alpha and first beta tests. It is now in the final stages of a second round beta to verify that the few minor issues that surfaced in the first round of beta testing have been resolved. We can't say much more at this time, but the comments from all of our testers indicate that this feature-packed beauty may be part of what keeps the summer HOT for home theater enthusiasts. More news on the Model 1070 will be available as the summer progresses.
RR 2150 News:
The long awaited RR 2150 "retro receiver" is also in the midst of the final beta stage. Initial reports from the testers tell us that those of you who have always asked for the ultimate music system will find that the RR 2150 will bring a new sense of power and performance to your listening room. In fact, you can take that literally, as changes made during the end-stage development of the RR 2150 have enabled us to raise the power output from 2x75 to 2x100 watts. Even better, while the RR 2150 will ship with this 25% increase in the originally announced power spec, there will be NO increase in the introductory price!
The RR 2150 has been a labor of love for us, and we know that it has taken quite a long time to bring it to market. However, when you hear and see this amazing product we know that you will agree the wait was well worth it. In a multi-channel world, there are still many places where pure analog two-channel stereo music is important, and the RR 2150 is our expression of the perfect blend of proven design and state of the art components. One more tease? Our tag line for the RR 2150 is that it will be "The last great stereo receiver". Even the most fanatical home theater enthusiast will want to consider this for their office, studio, bedroom or other locations where music rules. More about the RR 2150 as we move closer to production before the end of the summer.
LFM-2 News:
This was our "Big/Little Surprise" at the Show, and for those who haven't checked in the Saloon, the LFM-2 is our new subwoofer, a smaller cousin to the highly regarded LFM-1 introduced at last year's HE Show. At present it is undergoing final agency compliance testing, and before too long we'll have news on this front as well.
Cable and Interconnects Product News:
The first of our new interconnect cable offerings are off the assembly line and on the way to us. The DVI/HDMI cables are now on the way, to be followed by our DVI cables and the truly amazing balanced interconnects later in the summer. As the boat gets closer, we'll keep you posted. We should also note that our other audio, video, S-Video and digital audio cables are in stock for immediate delivery. They provide that extra edge that turns a Model 990, an Outlaw amplifier and your favorite sources into system perfection.
Existing Product News:
Amplifier News:
The Model 755 and Model 770 continue as solid values and powerful performers. When combined with a Model 990 in one of our special combo packages they truly represent the best value in home theater today.
As to the Model 7100, we regret to announce that due to the discontinuation of a key component, we are unable to produce any more Model 7100s, and thus it has been retired. However, a new replacement model will be available before the end of July. As with the other future products mentioned here, more news will follow when we nail down some of the final details.
In recognition of our duty to honor those orders already placed for Model 990/7100 combos, we will ship the new system at no increase in price. In addition, to keep the summer RED HOT, we will also offer the Model 990/"Model 7100 Replacement" combo pricing for anyone who orders between now and the date that the new amplifier ships, or July 20, 2005, whichever comes first.
Finally, we will also honor the current pricing on any present Model 7100 backorders. However, due to the end of production, we will no longer accept new orders for single Model 7100s.
We apologize for this inconvenience, but it is due to a factor outside of our control. We'll keep you posted as to our progress with the Model 7100's replacement over the next few weeks.
LFM-1 News:
The news here is that the LFM-1 is in stock and available for immediate shipment. We'd say more, but the LFM-1's solid value speaks for itself!
That's all for now. Enjoy your summer, and you'll be hearing from us within the next few weeks with more news on our RED HOT SUMMER!
Regards,
The Outlaws

Outlaw delivered the 990 with many new features that made this product attractive to a loyal customer base. Among these, Outlaw has promoted the 990's balanced outputs as a unique feature to pre/pro's in this price range. Many Gunslingers and Deperatos are waiting for the amp (that was unveiled a year ago) to compliment the 990. I am sure that the 790 was planned to be ready the same day that the 990 hit the west coast ports, but it just did not work out as expected. What marketing plan would suggest any different strategy? I trust that the Outlaws are working on this in background, but the expectations of us who know Outlaws as straight-forward straight-talkers is taking a hit, and it deserves to. The balanced amp that would be the logical mate to the 990, seen at Outlaw promotional expositions, and expected by so many of us, does not even get a footnote in the latest newsletter. I love Outlaw. Don't kill the goose! We deserve to know where Outlaw is regarding a product that was announced a almost a year before the 990 hit the bricks. Respectfuly, Allan

I spoke to Steve at Outlaw briefly today when I called to order an M-200, and he said that it could be a while before the 790 becomes available. I got the impression that they had some difficulties with the original design running hot, so the 790 is going to be revamped.

Just being nitpicky in a nice way....
The RR2150 says it will ship with 100W per channel a 25% percent increase in power. Shouldn't that be a 33% increase in power? 25 is 1/3 of 75 so I imagine it should have been either 25 watts of more power or 33% increase in power.
Obviously this is trivial, however it IS a nice surprise. I am looking forward to the release of the RR2150.
